2. Saluki YRD’s @153.3 & 4.0
3. Hardwood Heroes @147.4 & 4.8
4. Deep Valley Grouchos @146.5 & 4.56
NOTE: The DVG’s were due for a positive “correction” as their players were all underperforming their spreads the first two weeks.
5. Psychos @145.3 & 3.8
6. Gator Bait @144.1 & 6.3
7. North Pole Fightin’ Reindeer @139.5 & 5.9
8. Vindaloos @137.0 & 6.26
9. Hoosiers @135.3 & 5.1
10. KC Warthogs @128.8 & 5.7
11. Sam Jacobson Went To Class @127.9 & 4.8
12. Prozac Pups @114.5 & 4.1
NOTE: Need stronger meds…
13. Hillbilly Maulers @109.1 & 4.1
14. House of Sparky @106.5 & 4.0
NOTE: Ouch, Sparky got spanked…
15. The Hoop Guru @86.4 & 1.5
NOTE: I think this Guru needs to visit a Swami…
16. Virginia Gentlemen @60.1 & 2.25
NOTE: Unofficially, the lowest playoff game average in the history of the MML…
Week 3 observations:
Scoring was up! Of course, teams had more games, but I’m referring to the averages. Maize and Blue Bloods had the best per player average at just a tick under 23 per man. Saluki YRD’s were next at 22+ per man followed by the only other teams to get 20 or more per player: Gator Bait, DVG’s, Psychos, and the Hardwood Heroes…and, of course, those were also the top 6 teams in terms of playoff average.
Nice moves! 3 really good bigs were all picked up.
11/24: F/C Joel Soriano added by the DVG’s.
11/25: The Virginia Gentlemen doubled their pleasure in adding two tunas in F/C Tolu Smith & center Oumar Ballo…BOOM!
Week 4-teams listed in order of their week #4 playoff average. Week #4 stats on top next to team. (week #1, week #2, and week #3 stats underneath week #4 totals-in order, from week #1-week #3 for comparison)
1. Deep Valley Grouchos: 164.8 & 5.6
COMMENT: Holden getting more fga’s is a good thing. Soriano stabilizes the center position.
2. Sam Jacobson Went To Class: 160.5 & 5.94
COMMENT: Paveletzke a nice frosh addition.
3. Hoosiers: 154.5 & 6.1
COMMENT: Oduro made an appearance! The Oduro imposter who opened this season appears to be no more! Hoosiers need all of their frontline studs to be “on,” since they cannot count on any consistent play from their guards.
4. Gator Bait: 152.1 & 6.2
COMMENT: I hope when GB says his prayers before going to bed, he always adds: “And please bless the DVG’s & the rest of the teams for Kris Murray.” After all, I have to get something back for that…
5. Vindaloos: 143.0 & 5.9
COMMENT: Hello Payton Sparks! Where the heck have you been!
6. House of Sparky: 134.0 & 3.93
COMMENT: “HoS” has no impact players.
7. Prozac Pups: 130.7 & 4.7
COMMENT: Jake Stephens is a flat-out stud!
8. Psychos: 129.5 & 6.2
COMMENT: While still not good enough, a little sign of life; however, it was mainly provided by Aly Khalifa, who had the best week of his entire career-that’s not sustainable.
9. Virginia Gentlemen: 128.6 & 6.4
COMMENT: Enjoy their struggles while you can. While there is still more roster fixing to do, the VG’s made two (and I am sure they would argue three) significant roster additions.
10. KC Warthogs: 128.1 & 5.07
COMMENT: Good looking spread for week 4-too bad they only got 9 jacks per man. Black looking like a Top Ten fantasy freshman.
11. North Pole Fightin’ Reindeer: 127.0 & 5.9
COMMENT: Jesse Edwards has continued to rise and is a force!
11. Saluki YRD’s: 127.0 & 5.4
COMMENT: It’s nice to have a Jalen Wilson out there each week.
13. Hardwood Heroes: 122.5 & 5.0
COMMENT: Who knew that Filipowski would be the best fantasy freshman out of the Duke freshman crib? Nobody…that’s why you wait on selecting freshmen…
14. Maize & Blue Bloods: 109.0 & 4.1
COMMENT: The Kinsey from two years ago is back!
15. The Hoop Guru: 104.6 & 4.0
COMMENT: Another team that doesn’t like to shoot a lot; less than 8 shots per man! Chris Ludlum is not Charles Atlas (in other words, he cannot carry this team on his shoulders), Atlas being Schwarzenegger before there was a Schwarzenegger.
16. Hillbilly Maulers: 104.0 & 3.25
COMMENT: One cannot live on just bread and water. Bacot & Shumate are the bread & water…besides which, they averaged less than 8 fga’s per man…
Week 4 observation:
I loved the first “Jurassic Park” film the best, probably due to Jeff Goldblum’s character. So, when I say that “tiers are forming,” that’s where that phrase is coming from, as I refer to how the teams are starting to show their level. Prior to week 4 there were enough elite FA’s that a championship caliber team could have been formed from the FA pool. Not anymore. The FA pickings are slim. To be sure, there are plenty of players with good fantasy numbers in there, but most all are “fool’s gold.” The real scouting work has begun. History says that somewhere from 3-4 “unknowns” should emerge as very good gets, with perhaps 1-2 becoming impact players. Remember what the knight said to Indiana Jones: “Choose wisely.”
Nice moves!
11/29: Maize and Blue Bloods drop two bombs when they add f/c Isaac Jones & f-Josh Roberts!
12/2: House of Sparky takes f/c Mitchell Saxen.
12/2: North Pole add f-Karim Coulibaly
12/2: Saluki YRD’s add g-Sam Sessoms
