I must share a rant...

Hi everyone, today, for what it's worth, I have to rant, and, I am sharing it because I am sure that every single one of you has experienced this many times, at all positions, but, I am going to rant about guards...

...because, to paraphrase: You can't love 'em and you can't kill 'em.

While I have been blessed over the years with some outstanding guards, my complaint is not that I can't seem to get an outstanding guard every year. No, far from it. I would just like to add a guard via either the draft or free agency, who, does what his stats from over two seasons of work say he is going to do and have him do something either a tad less or a tad more. Is that so much to ask?

My reference to something we have all experienced is when you pick up a player who has been killing it. Not an average player at all, but a guy who looks great and as soon as you add him, he simply ain't that dude anymore. Sometimes, he's just up and down, sometimes just a little down, but, so often, he turns out to be just another "Cinderfella" who sure as hell is closer to a frog than a prince once the games begin...HARUMPH%^$#%#%@!)()^%

But again, this rant is about guards. While I have always said that at any level of basketball it is all about the guards, that doesn't mean that I can't hate them!!!

I dream of a fantasy college basketball league that uses a 5 man lineup. No freshmen allowed and NO GUARDS ALLOWED!$%&@*&&#%@$$!!!!!

Trust me, I will be the first to sign up (sigh).

While I would love to see us have unlimited moves to make, 8 would be sufficient if I didn't need about a dozen to be able to find two guards that are somewhat reliable. I mean, is it really asking too much to find two guards who can consisently get you 21-23 fppg? I think that's being very reasonable. Yes, I would love to have one guard who is a bonafide stud each year (25+fppg avg.), but how many Woolbright's are there each year?

I mean, I added a guard who was averaging about 27 fppg all year-until I got him of course. He has averaged exactly 20 fppg in the games I've played him. That's a whopping drop and this has happened many times. I had drafted two guards. One averaged 22.9 in conference play last year and had two years of bonafides. The other averaged 23.8 in conference play...guess what? Both are no longer with me. Was it really asking too much to see if the first guy could at least get 21.5 per game, and, the second, maybe 22 per game? I guess so. Or, like Jack Nicholson said in the wickedly funny "Witches of Eastwick (if you haven't see the film see it just for this scene near the end), "Did he do it to us on purpose?!" In this case referring to God making women, in my case, having guards.

So, yes, I hate guards-when it comes to fantasy college basketball. They stress me and cost me sleep as I must spend many extra hours on top of the many hours I alread spend, going through name after name after name trying to find a real guard, and, not a bogus fantasy flash...

...it ain't easy...oh, yeah, so, if I had a vote on guards...since you can't live with 'em...I say...kill 'em...

Thanks for allowing me to vent...

Groucho’s, it’s not only guards. I got a center that was POY a couple years ago and he scored approximately 10 FP this week. He should get 10 rebounds a game but he is SOFT!

I feel your frustration. I can only hope he kicks it in high gear down the stretch but I have little hope based on the past.

I appreciate the support, I truly do, because I have picked up players at other positions who historically should be good and are either average, mediocre, or, worse, just fricking suck!

But I must say that the most difficult thing to get a handle on (for me) continues to be projecting guard productivity...grumble, grumble !$@$@(@))!&%!$#!!!!
