NIL Observations

I was looking at my players school sites and I happened to be in the Texas Tech website and noticed a tab regarding NIL which I clicked on.  That led me to a page of questions that the school uses to vet folks who want permission to contact players to make NIL proposals.  Nothing surprising so far, although I was struck by how right up front and transactional it felt to see this on a college website.  Then I was scrolling through the players and I came to an older looking bearded guy who was clearly too old to be a college athlete.  To my surprise, it was the strength and conditioning coach for the basketball team!  Wow, now the salaried staff of the team is looking for money from sponsors through NIL.  In a manner of speaking, he is possibly competing with players of that pool of money.  While drawing a salary from the program.  I haven't looked at other schools or even the rest of the people listed on the Texas Tech site who the school is promoting as available to strike NIL deals with but I really was surprised by this.  When Ed O'Bannon brought his suit vs the NCAA, did he envision trying to get money to supplement the coaching staff salaries?  I doubt it.
